Basel Preview & ECOMB Membership Drive

What: ECOMB and Satellite Art & Design Show Miami ‘09 invite Miami-Dade County residents to ECOMB’s first annual membership drive and party. For only $25 dollars, new members will receive ECOMB’s new membership card – The Green Card – that entitles them to a variety of discounts from local “green” businesses. New members will also be eligible to win a HOME WIND POWER PLAN from Renewable Choice Energy and have privileged access to future ECOMB events. Complimentary Eco-Friendly Cocktails and Treetinis courtesy of VeeV Acai Spirit, hors d’oeuvres and H2Ultra bottled water-Hydration Redefined,2 will be served throughout the evening.

Guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy a preview exhibition of Satellite Art + Design Show Miami produced by Event Visions Consulting, Dieko’s Galleries Expo and The Arts in Action Company. This exhibition, featuring a “who’s who” of modern and contemporary artists, sculptors, designers and galleries, is a prelude to its December 3rd – 6th, Art Basel installation. The event is open to the public and will feature music by Erick Paredes of Sustainable Recordings, a special live performance by Nadia Harris of Agape, and an artist talk with Bruce Helander - one of America’s most distinguished and successful collage artists.

Who: The theme for SATELLITE is Organica: A Celebration of the Human Body and Nature in Art and Design. Artists from the USA, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Greece, Italy, Spain and Slovenia, will be presented. A curated exhibition by Reed V. Horth, Paul Fisher and Val Torres will also be featured. Works on view include those by such greats as Salvador Dali, Diego Rivera, Hunt Slonem, Andy Warhol & Bruce Helander, among others. Contemporary emerging artists, photographers and sculptors include Melanie Prapopoulos, Diana Rodriguez, Carlos Rodriguez, Ana Andras, Paul Andras, Andre Brandao, Jure J. Cekuta, Carlos Cesar Alves, Alvaro Daza, Richard Holton and G. Mayo. Design exhibition from InterFlight Studio features recycled, functional items constructed from various aircraft parts, as well as refurbished airplane seats.

Notable: Independent filmmakers will be filming scenes for the movie “Pop Goes the Easel” based on Andy Warhol and Peter Max from the ‘80s.
