CLOSE UP VALLARTA se complace en presentar la convocatoria al 2do Festival Internacional de Video Creación que tendrá lugar del 25 al 29 de abril 2012 en la ciudad de Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, México.

CLOSE UP VALLARTA es una muestra de video creación de carácter internacional. El Festival es una exhibición abierta en la que se presentan materiales que van desde el video arte hasta el video experimental, transitando por todo lo relacionado con el arte realizado en video. Constituye un espacio de interrelación y promoción que permite aproximarnos a la experimentación visual; CLOSE UP VALLARTA ofrece la oportunidad de presentar nuevas obras de video de artistas emergentes o consagrados y tiene interés en que el arte realizado en video no sólo circule en museos y galerías, sino que llegue a otros espacios y a un público más amplio. La propuesta curatorial de CLOSE UP se basa en liberar al video arte del discurso rígido y preestablecido. El proyecto emula la actividad constante del ojo y surge de la tendencia moderna de visualizar la existencia.

BASES

1. PARTICIPANTES.

-Podrán participar todos los autores que lo deseen, siempre y cuando las obras:

·Hayan sido realizadas en soporte videográfico (vídeo), tanto analógico como digital.

·Hayan sido realizadas en español o cualquier otro idioma siempre que incluya subtítulos en español.

-Cada artista podrá enviar una obra a cada una de las distintas categorías.

2. CATEGORÍAS.

-Podrán presentarse materiales que estén dentro del video arte, video performance, video danza, video arte erótico, video animación y corto experimental.

En el caso de la video danza y el video performance no se aceptarán aquellos materiales que sean solamente registro de una obra danzaría o acciones.

-La duración máxima de cada video sea de 5 minutos, excepto en corto experimental que será de hasta 8 minutos.

-El tema será libre.

3. PRESENTACIÓN.

-Cada obra deberá enviarse en un CD o DVD, en formato “MOV”.

-Cada DVD o CD debe ir marcado con el título, autor, duración y la categoría en la que concursaría.

-Cada obra debe incluir créditos al final con título, autor, etc.

-Adjuntar una hoja de información que incluya los siguientes datos: nombre completo del artista, nacionalidad, dirección particular, email y breve descripción del video. En el caso de los estudiantes deben especificarlo, pues se hará una sección solo para estudiantes con su premio independiente a las categorías.

-Se adjuntarán además en el CD o DVD dos imágenes JPG de la obra en alta resolución, para invitaciones, posters, prensa, etc.

4. SELECCIÓN.

Los videos se seleccionarán teniendo como criterio la calidad de la imagen, originalidad de la propuesta, exploración estética y conceptual, y la sincronización entre contenido y realización.

Toda la información correspondiente a la selección de los artistas y las obras, será enviada al email que cada artista nos proporcionó en la hoja de información, y será publicada en la página del Festival www.closeupvallarta.com

5. ENVÍO.

-Las obras podrán enviarse por correo postal hasta el 20 de Febrero de 2012.

-La dirección de envío o entrega es la siguiente:

-También se pueden enviar los videos vía We Transfer, Megaupload o You Send It, en formato “MOV” a la siguiente dirección de e-mail: closeupvallarta@yahoo.com, adicionando al e-mail toda la información requerida.

6. JURADO.

El jurado estará integrado por especialistas en materia de arte y video arte, los nombres serán dados a conocer con posterioridad al fallo y este será inapelable.

7. RECONOCIMIENTOS.

Se otorgará un premio único de $ 1000 usd a la obra ganadora.

Además se otorgará un premio por categoría y cuantas menciones el jurado considere necesarias.

El premio por categoría consistirá en una presentación de la obra de cada artista ganador en la Galería Haus Der Kunst, Puerto Vallarta, México.

Se otorgará además un premio al talento local y se entregará un "premio del público", al video más votado por los asistentes.

A cada artista premiado se le hará llegar un reconocimiento.

8. DEVOLUCIONES.

Todas las obras pasarán a formar parte de la videoteca del Festival de video creación CLOSE UP VALLARTA (excepto cuando el artista solicite su devolución, los videos se devolverán por correo postal certificado) y podrán ser presentadas con fines culturales y/o educativos (en ningún caso comercial) en las diferentes muestras que se organicen posteriormente. Todos los videos que se envíen serán considerados como copias de exhibición. Se recomienda en todos los casos registrar los derechos de autor.

OBSERVACIONES.

Este Festival se hace sin fines de lucro por lo que los organizadores no se harán cargo de los gastos que pudiera generar la participación de los artistas (transporte, hospedaje, alimentación, honorarios, ni gastos de envío).

Los organizadores se reservan el derecho de selección de videos que puedan resultar lesivos a los derechos humanos o a la moral.

El hecho de participar en el Festival supone la aceptación plena de estas bases.

Submissions for the 2nd International Video Creation Festival, CLOSE UP VALLARTA

CLOSE UP VALLARTA is pleased to welcome submissions for the 2nd Video Creation Festival CLOSE UP VALLARTA, which will take place from April 25-29, 2012 in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, México.

CLOSE UP VALLARTA is an open international video creation festival, where material ranging from video art to experimental film will be exhibited, covering everything related to art made in video. It constitutes a platform for promotion and interrelation that enables us to come into closer contact with visual experimentation; CLOSE UP VALLARTA offers the chance to present new video work of emerging or established artists and its focus is to present art made in video in spaces other than museums and galleries, and to reach more spectators. CLOSE UP’s curatorial proposal is based on liberating video art from the rigid and pre-established discourse that has dominated the genre. The project emulates the constant activity of the eye and our perception, and arises from the modern trend to visualize our existence.

RULES

1. PARTICIPANTS.

- All authors who wish to participate may do so, provided that:

• Work has been carried out on video-graphic support (video) either analogical or digital.
• Work is in Spanish or includes Spanish subtitles if in another language (all languages are welcome).

- Each artist may send one video to each of the different categories.

2. CATEGORIES.

- Work from the following genres is welcome for submission: video art, video performance, videodance, erotic video art, animation and experimental short films. Regarding video dance and video performance, pieces that are a simply recording or footage of a dance or performance will not be accepted.

- The length of each video should be no more than 5 minutes, except in the case of experimental short films, which should be no more than 8 minutes.

- There are no restrictions on subject matter or theme.

3. PRESENTATION.

- Each piece must be sent on CD or DVD in “MOV” format.

- Each CV or DVD must be marked with its title, author, duration and the category for which it has been entered.

- Each piece must include final credits with title, author, year, etc.

- An information sheet containing the following data must accompany each entry: artist’s full name, nationality, home address, email, and brief description of the video. Please specify if you are a student, since there will be a section dedicated for students.

- Two high-resolution JPG images must be included on the CD or DVD for invitations and press etc.

4. SELECTION.

Videos will be selected based on the following criteria: quality of image, originality of the proposal, aesthetic and conceptual exploration and the relationship between content and production.

All information pertaining to the selection of artists and their pieces will be sent to the email provided by each artist on the information sheet, and it will be published on the Festival’s website www.closeupvallarta.com

5. DELIVERY.

- Work should be sent by post no later than February 20, 2012

6. JURY.

The jury, whose names will be made known after the ruling, will be composed of art or video art specialists. The ruling will be uappealable.

7. AWARDS

There will be only one prize of $1000 USD to be awarded to the winning video.

In addition, there will be one prize per category, which consists of an exhibition of each winning artist’s work in Haus der Kunst Gallery, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

There will also be as many special recognitions awarded as deemed necessary by the judges.

Prizes from national and international institutions will also be given according to the criteria stipulated by the institution.

Each prizewinner will receive a certificate.

8. RETURNS POLICY.

All entries will become part of the CLOSE UP VALLARTA video creation Festival’s video collection (except when the artist specifically asks for their work to be returned; the videos will be returned by certified mail) and they may be presented with cultural and/or educational goals (none commercial whatsoever) in the various future exhibitions. All videos submitted will be considered as exhibition copies. It is recommended that authors register their rights in all cases.

OBSERVATIONS.

This is a non-profit festival therefore the organizers will not cover any expenses that artists may incur in order to participate (transportation, lodgings, meals, fees, or delivery costs).

The organizers reserve the right to reject videos that may be detrimental to human rights or that may be considered morally questionable.

Participation in CLOSE UP VALLARTA Video Creation Festival implies total acceptance of these rules.
