David Palacios exhibition opens at PSH Projects gallery
“Breaking News” will show a selection of works from his project “Art Report”
Miami, FL (February 07, 2013) David Palacios -cuban artist who
currently lives and works between the city of London (UK) and Abuja
(Nigeria) – opens at PSH Projects Gallery in Wynwood , "Breaking News”
an special mixed media art exhibit. Kicking off with an opening
reception on Thursday, October 10th at 7 pm, the exhibit will run until
November.
The exhibition
"Breaking News" gathers David Palacios proposals developed since 2010 as
part of his project " Art Report " in which juxtaposes art codes and
statistical information and news .
The exhibit includes
graphic - paintings , digital prints , installations, book-objects and
videos that pose a critical look at models of representation of
information industry using mechanisms of visual news agency .
Palacios takes as reference some issues on the global agenda such as:
global economy , international investment , oil prices, military
spending , social issues , poverty levels and presents , from an
interdisciplinary approach , in works that at first glance seem
innocuous graphic and reports.
The artist has been working for a
couple of years his artworks as an informational support of social,
political or economic issues and also as a tool for self-reflexion
about the limits of representation.
Besides the opening, the
next Saturday, October 12th will be an excellent opportunity to enjoy
the exhibition " Breaking News" in the framework of the night walk (
Artwalk ) organized by WADA Wynwood Art District on the second saturday
of each month.
