Mirror Stage from Miami-based artist Liliam Dominguez is the second in a series of five exhibitions presented by the MDC Museum of Art + Design and its alumni exhibition series, swing/SPACE/miami. In Mirror Stage, the artist “… observes reality as a hierarchy of events in a continuum of arbitrary scenes. In the reflection of the mirror, the same phenomena occur. Illusion gets confused with Reality…” and therefore, “ … in an attempt to capture the gap created between what we see and what really is.”
Liliam Dominguez (b. Havana, Cuba) started her advanced education in Cuba and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from New World School of the Arts in 2002. Dominguez is currently pursuing a doctorate in education curriculum and Instruction from Barry University. She has been in numerous group exhibitions in Miami since 2002, and her work is in the permanent collections of the Bass Museum of Art and many local collectors. Dominguez currently lives and works in Miami .
swing/SPACE/miami is MDC Museum of Art + Design’s focused exhibition series featuring the work of distinguished Miami Dade College and New World School of the Arts alumni. The ongoing exhibition series presents five solo or group exhibitions per year, providing a platform to re-engage former alumni and foster opportunities with the community of young and emerging artists throughout South Florida.
Presented in partnership with 'I AM MDC' and the Miami Dade College Alumni Office.
