INTERNATIONAL BALLET FESTIVAL OF MIAMI LAUNCHES WITH “THE ART OF DANCE”


A dance-inspired collective art exhibit and the unveiling of the official Festival poster and statuette.

(Miami, FL / August 2012) – Miami Hispanic Ballet, American Airlines and Paragon Gallery present “The Art of Dance”, a dance inspired collective exhibit featuring the works of national and international artists, along with the unveilings of the Official Poster as well as the “A Life for Dance” Award statuette. The cocktail reception launches the International Ballet Festival of Miami at 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Paragon Gallery, located int the Wynwood Art District at 2033A N.W. 1st Place, Miami.

The IBFM consists of performances and galas featuring prestigious ballet companies from around the world represented by their greatest stars. The festival also encompasses a dance film series, a dance-inspired fine arts exhibition, workshops, a book presentation, and a special performance by young international ballet competition medal winners, culminating in the most ambitious ballet project ever conceived in South Florida.

This year’s official poster was designed by Vogue Italia Magazine fashion photographer, Alvaro Beaumud Cortes, a native of Valencia, Spain. Mr. Beaumud’s photos have graced the covers of top international magazines.

“The Art of Dance” exhibit includes works from 25 international artists: Ismael Gomez Peralta, Pablo Lazo, Alberto Jorge Carol, Luis Castro (Ichy), Abel Triana, Antonio Guerrero, Michel Hernandez, Mario Almaguer, Pedro Portal, Nestor Arenas, Mariano Costa Peuser, Jorge Santos Marcos, Tony Rodriguez, Yosvani Teijeiro, Liliana Leiro, Dayna Posada, Floyd, Florencio Gelabert, Lopez Ramos, Roberto J. Sorokhtin, Stanley Goodman, Adele Piro, Ivan Galindo, Maruchi Carmona and Stephen Gamson.

Six magnificent performances will thrill audiences this year featuring modern and contemporary performances performed by companies from Argentina, Brazil, Czech Republic, Georgia, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Philippines, Portugal, Spain, Turkey and the USA. The first, in collaboration with the Youth American Grand Prix, features young international ballet competition medalists. The festival finale will consist of two Spectacular Grand Gala Performances with renowned ballet companies from across the globe, represented by their greatest stars.
