The end of the cold war also ended the bipolarity established by the two world superpowers and led to a more complex social and political international scene, defined as multipolar, post-totalitarian and post-utopian. The old ideological constructions based on the binary stereotype of “good” and “evil” that each side's propaganda chose to portray themselves and impose over their enemies, respectively, understood “good” and “evil” as separate, pure, uncontaminated and absolute entities.
Past is History, Future is Mystery embraces a more comprehensive and holistic vision that approaches the “good” and the “evil” as something more disseminated and mingled among and within all humans, regardless of our ideological credo or religious faith. A state of mind perfectly embodied by the yin-yang symbol, which displays positive and negative energies side by side, each one containing a portion of the other.
